سَيْرَthe tread of السكينةِserenity سيدُlord الأمراءِthe princes
The Imam has arrived; beneath his banner walks
The lord of princes, with serenity's tread.
شمسٌa sun وبدرand a full moon يشفيانboth heal ذويthose with العمىblindness
وهماand they both سراجاtwo lamps أعينِeyes البُصراءِthe sighted
A sun and a full moon, both healing the blind,
And both are lamps for the eyes of the sighted.
لاno عيبَfault عندin the eyes of ذويthose given to التُّعنتِfault-finding فيهماin them both
إلّاexcept انفرادُهماtheir standing apart عنfrom النظراءِthe peers
To the fault-finders, neither has a flaw,
Except that they stand apart from their peers.
كمhow many قدindeed تخلَّفlagged عنهماbehind them both منof سابقٍa front-runner
غيرِexcept for الوزيرthe vizier مُبَرِّزِsurpassing الوزَراءِthe viziers
How many a front-runner has fallen behind them,
Save the vizier, foremost among viziers.
