    Daughters of Thawāba, among humankind

none is more worn-out than you, nor more burdensome.

To your misfortune, you combined a craving to be sodomized

with a heaviness that cannot be borne.

So heavy are you that, were you to be penetrated,

your women would spend the night with injured spleens.

But you were created by the grace of the Gentle One

to bear, not to be borne.

And prostitution was the cure for the burdensome man,

so that he might be the one underneath.

Have you not seen how the earth, when made heavy

as you were, was created to bear?

Your packhorses could bear your weight

    because beasts do not reason.

And God has wisdom in His creation,

through which people were granted what they were granted.
