العينُthe eye لاnot تنفكُّceases منfrom نَظرٍlooking
والقلبُand the heart لاnot ينفكceases منfrom وطرِdesire
The eye never ceases looking,
And the heart never ceases desiring.
ومحاسنُand the beauties الأشياءِof things فيكin you معاًtogether
فملالِتيكَso my weariness of you ملالتيmy weariness بصريmy sight
And the beauties of things are gathered together in you,
So to tire of you is to tire of my own sight.
مُتعاتُdelights وجهكof your face فيin بديهتهاtheir first appearance
جُددٌfresh وفيand in أعقابهاtheir wake الأُخَرthe others
The delights of your face, at their first appearance,
Are fresh, and others follow in their wake.
فكأنso it is as though وجهكyour face منthrough تجدُّدهits renewal
متنقلٌshifting للعينِto the eye فيin صورforms
So it is as though your face, through its renewal,
Shifts before the eye from form to form.
