فتىa youth يَتَّقيshuns لحظَthe gaze of العيونِthe eyes ويرْعَويand draws back
فتى يَتَّقي لحظَ العيونِ ويرْعَوي
ويَغْشَىand ventures among رماحَthe spears of الخطّal-Khatt مشتبكاتِinterlaced
ويَغْشَى رماحَ الخطّ مشتبكاتِ
A youth who shuns the gaze of eyes and draws back,
A young man who shields himself from the glances of eyes and grazes,
Yet ventures among the interlaced spears of al-Khatt.
And rains down spears of lines intertwined,
