فتىً يقطعُ الآمالَ غر مُخيَّبٍ
ولكنهُbut he يعطيgives قَصارَthe utmost aim of المؤمِّلِthe hopeful one
ولكنهُ يعطي قَصارَ المؤمِّلِ
A young man who brings hopes to an end without disappointment,
A youth who severs hopes without failure,
but grants the hopeful one his utmost wish.
Yet gives the hopeful brief respite,
إلىto أينwhere بالآمالِwith hopes بعدَafter نوالهhis bounty
إلى أين بالآمالِ بعدَ نواله
إلىto أينwhere وافىhas reached السَّفْرُthe travelers آخرَthe last منزلِstopping-place
إلى أين وافى السَّفْرُ آخرَ منزلِ
Where can hopes go after his bounty?
After attaining hopes, where to with them?
Where can the travelers go, having reached their final stopping-place?
After the journey ends, where is the final halt?
