أقبلتْhas arrived دولةٌa reign هيit الإقبالُprosperity
أقبلتْ دولةٌ هي الإقبالُ
فأقامتْso it remained وزالand departed عنهاfrom it الزوالُdecline
فأقامتْ وزال عنها الزوالُ
A reign has arrived that is prosperity itself;
A fortune has come, it is prosperity,
so it endured, and decline departed from it.
It has settled, and decline has gone from it.
دولةٌa reign ليسis not يُعدَمُlacking الدهرthroughout time فيهاin it
دولةٌ ليس يُعدَمُ الدهر فيها
باطلٌfalsehood مزهقٌvanquished وحقٌّand truth مُدالُgranted victory
باطلٌ مزهقٌ وحقٌّ مُدالُ
A reign in which, for all time, there is no lack of
A fortune where loss is never known,
falsehood vanquished and truth made victorious.
Where falsehood vanishes, and right is exalted.
طالعتْappeared للعيونto the eyes فيهاin it مصابيlamps (first fragment)
طالعتْ للعيون فيها مصابي
حٌcompletion of 'lamps' أضاءتْshone لضوئهاby their light الآمالُhopes
حٌ أضاءتْ لضوئها الآمالُ
Within it, lamps appeared before the eyes,
For eyes it brought healing remedies,
by whose light hopes shone:
Its light ignited hopes.
شمسُa sun دَجْنٍcloud-darkness ومشتَرٍand Jupiter غيرِnot منحوill-starred (first fragment)
شمسُ دَجْنٍ ومشتَرٍ غيرِ منحو
سٍcompletion of 'ill-starred' وبدرٌand a full moon متمَّمٌperfected وهلالُand a crescent
سٍ وبدرٌ متمَّمٌ وهلالُ
a sun amid clouds, and a Jupiter not ill-starred,
A sun not declining, nor a planet deviating,
and a perfect full moon, and a crescent—
A full moon, a completed crescent.
ملكa king وابنُهُand his son ومِدرَهand a spokesman مُلْكٌroyal dominion
ملك وابنُهُ ومِدرَه مُلْكٌ
وابنُهand his son هكذاthus يكونis الكمالُperfection
وابنُه هكذا يكون الكمالُ
a king and his son, and a spokesman for the realm,
A king, his son, and his adviser are sovereigns,
and his son—such is perfection.
The son thus is the perfection.
