وما سدَّ قولٌ في فعالك خلةً

ولا وجد المدَّاحُ نقصاً يتمَّمُ

ولا وجد المدَّاحُ نقصاً يتمَّمُ

No words have filled any gap in your noble deeds,

And no utterance has filled a gap in your deeds,

Nor has the panegyrist found a flaw that might be made whole;

Nor has the panegyrist found a shortcoming to be remedied.

ولا اتخذوا مدحاً إليك وسيلة

ولا اتخذوا مدحاً إليك وسيلة

لأنك سَيْح يستقي ماءَهُ الفمُ

لأنك سَيْح يستقي ماءَهُ الفمُ

Nor have they used praise as a means of gaining access to you,

Nor have they made praise a means of reaching you,

For you are a flowing stream from which the mouth draws its water.

For you are a flowing stream whose water the mouth draws.
