Take your time, O man calling out

To Abu Isa: help has been granted you.

You surely made yourself heard when you called to a living man,

Who springs into action toward his caller.

    فداهُ كلُّ من ولدَ الإناثُ

    Abu Isa al-Ala is a young man of lofty virtues;

May all whom women have borne be his ransom.

A young man whose deeds are never deemed tardy,

And the one who thanks him strives hard, yet is deemed slow.

When he bestows his favors on people,

Their first is a spur to their last.

A wise man whose bonds are not so weak

As to be censured, nor are his covenants threadbare.

So he never turns away from praise,

Nor from generosity, when unraveling is feared.

A young man through whom the world was set right, though once

Its two states were turmoil and confusion.

He set its two ends upright through his justice,

And he is not like those who acted unjustly and wrought havoc.

And in justice lie the gathering of fruit and the sparing

Of a fruit-bearing tree; in injustice lies uprooting.
