O seller of the house for a single wineskin,

Sell me my honor as a noble free man would,

For a thousand wineskins, and one wineskin more.

You have become like a pig among hunted beasts:

No one praises whoever kills it,

And sometimes it destroys the pursuer's life.

You trade insults with people, having no father,

Save for my claims, without a witness.

You hurl your own faults at men of noble lineage,

And you are no match for an angered, resentful man,

Who then attacks your honor with poems.

So people suffer grievous hardship because of that,

Those near and those far away alike.
