قالت غُلالتُهُ القَصَبْ
لماwhen تثنَّىhe swayed وانتصَبْand stood upright
لما تثنَّى وانتصَبْ
His fine-linen undershirt said,
His shackles said to the reed:
when he swayed and stood upright:
When he bent down and stood tall
ماليwhat is the matter with me? جَنيتُI committed جنايةًa crime
مالي جَنيتُ جنايةً
حتىthat صُلبتُI was crucified علىupon الخشبْthe wood
حتى صُلبتُ على الخشبْ
"Why—have I committed a crime,
What wrong did I commit
that I have been crucified upon wood?"
That I was crucified on the wood
