أتَرْضى بأنَّ النخلَ أصبح لم يحُلْ

أتَرْضى بأنَّ النخلَ أصبح لم يحُلْ

وقد حال ما عَوَّدْتَنِيهِ من البذلِ

وقد حال ما عَوَّدْتَنِيهِ من البذلِ

Are you content that the date palms have not ceased bearing fruit,

Are you satisfied that the palm tree no longer bears fruit

while the bounty you accustomed me to has ceased?

And what you used to give me generously has dried up

أبى اللَّهُ أن ترضى بتلك خليقةً

أبى اللَّهُ أن ترضى بتلك خليقةً

لأنك أولى بالوفاءِ من النخلِ

لأنك أولى بالوفاءِ من النخلِ

God forbid that you accept that as a trait,

God did not want you to be content with such character

for you are more worthy of faithfulness than the date palms.

Because you are more deserving of loyalty than the palm tree
