لقوله نحن قَسَمْ
ناwe (suffix completing the preceding verb) بينهمamong them زالceased المِراcontention
نا بينهم زال المِرا
At His saying, “We have apportioned
He said we are destined
among them,” contention ceased.
To share between them, time slipped away
ولوand had تولىundertaken غيرُهsomeone other than Him
ولو تولى غيرُه
قسمةَthe apportionment of أرزاقlivelihoods الورىhumankind
قسمةَ أرزاق الورى
And had anyone other than Him undertaken
If another took over
the apportionment of humankind’s livelihoods,
Dividing the sustenance of the world
جرتْarose خطوبcalamities بينناamong us
جرتْ خطوب بيننا
لكنناbut we تحتbeneath العراthe open sky
لكننا تحت العرا
calamities would have arisen among us;
Troubles would arise between us
but we are beneath the open sky.
But we are under the Divine Care
