بان في قاعه الذي كان ساخا
And a pool whose edges grew so clear
A pool whose edges have become softened
that what had sunk became visible on its bed;
Revealing at its depths what was hidden
فكأنَّso it was as though الحَمَامَthe doves إذwhen وَرَدَتْهُthey came to it to drink
فكأنَّ الحَمَامَ إذ وَرَدَتْهُ
منbecause of صَفَاthe clarity of مائهits water تَزُقُّfeed beak to beak فِرَاخَاchicks
من صَفَا مائه تَزُقُّ فِرَاخَا
so it was as though the doves, when they came to drink from it,
As though doves alighting to drink
with its water so clear, were feeding chicks beak to beak.
Pluck and tear its chicks from the surface
