كفاكit suffices you منof ذلّتيmy abasement للشيبbefore gray hair حينwhen أتىit came
كفاك من ذلّتي للشيب حين أتى
أنيthat I تَوَلَّيْتُI undertook نتفاًplucking لحيتيmy beard بيديwith my hand
أني تَوَلَّيْتُ نتفاً لحيتي بيدي
Sufficient proof for you of my abasement before gray hair when it came
Enough of my submission to old age when it came
is that I undertook to pluck my beard with my own hand.
That I plucked the strands of my beard with my own hand
