  1. ألا فاسقني خمراً بصفو سلافةٍ

    بماء سماء حبذا الخمر بالقطرِ

    Come, give me pure, free-run wine to drink,

    With water from the sky—how delightful is wine with rain!

  2. شرابان حلّا طائعين كلاهما

    ولم يأتيا كرهاً بعصر ولا حفر

    Two drinks that came willingly, both of them,

    And neither came by force, through pressing or digging.
