قولاtell, you two لقُرَّةِto the delight of عَيْنيmy eye
سمَّيتُI named أوor لمdid not أُسمِّيI name
You two, tell the delight of my eye—
Tell the delight of my eye,
whether I name them or not—
Whether I named her or not,
كمhow often قلتُI said عندduring بكائيmy weeping
أصبتُI hurt عيْنيmy eye بكمّيwith my sleeve
how often I said, as I wept,
How much I said in my weeping,
“I hurt my eye with my sleeve,”
I harmed my eye with my blindness,
حتىuntil يقولsays جليسيmy companion
عليَّfrom me أيضاًtoo تُعمِّيyou conceal
until my companion would say,
Until my companion says,
“You’re hiding it from me, too!”
She blinds me as well.
