Whatever I forget, I shall not forget a baker I passed,
I have not forgotten, I have not forgotten a baker I passed by
Spreading out thin flatbread as swiftly as the eye can glance.

The time between seeing it as a ball in his palm
No sooner does he see it as a ball in his palm
And seeing it broad and round like the moon
Than as a full moon loaf ready and plump

Was only as long as it takes a circle to spread
In the time it takes a pebble's circle
Across the surface of water into which a stone is thrown.
To vanish in the water into which 'tis dropped
