And mentioning you in verse is like rhyme inconsistency,
Your mention in poetry is like the toothpick, the date, and the raisin
and initial metrical truncation and additions—or like absurdity—
Or like bolstering poetry, empowering it
وإيطاءِand repetition of rhyme-words شعرٍverse وإكفائهِand its mismatched rhyme-consonants
وإقوائهِand its mismatched rhyme-vowels دونless grave than ذِكرِmentioning الرُّذالِthe vile
and repeated rhyme-words in verse and its mismatched rhyme-consonants,
Without mentioning vulgarity
and its mismatched rhyme-vowels—less grave than mentioning the vile.
There is no fault in poetry with a fault of its own
وماand no عِيبَwas faulted شعرٌverse بعيبٍfor a flaw لهof its own
كأنlike being يُبتَلىafflicted برجالwith men السّفالِbaseness
And no verse has been faulted for a flaw of its own
As if it is afflicted by vulgar men
like being afflicted with men of baseness.
