Ibn Abi al-Jahm has an ugly face,
To the son of Abu al-Jahm, of ugly face,
Hideous, its ugliness plain.
Repulsive, clear in its repulsiveness,
يعلوهoverspreads it بُغْضٌhatred لهfor him شديدintense
يعلوه بُغْضٌ له شديد
علىupon قلوبhearts الورىhumankind طُفُوحُهits overflowing
على قلوب الورى طُفُوحُه
A fierce hatred for him overspreads it,
Above it is intense hatred for him
Its overflow flooding the hearts of humankind.
Overflowing in the hearts of all people.

ولم يُقَصِّرْ به وُضُوحُه
A hatred you see, but he does not,
Hatred you see but he does not,
Though it is in no way lacking in clarity.
And its clarity has not diminished for him.

لَذابَ حتى يَخِفَّ رُوحُه
Were his two eyes not blind to it,
If his two eyes were not blind to it,
He would melt away until his spirit grew light.
It would melt him until his soul disappears.
