مدحْتَ نُصَيراً على زَمرِه

مدحْتَ نُصَيراً على زَمرِه

وفي زمره يصدُقُ المادِحُ

وفي زمره يصدُقُ المادِحُ

You praised Nuṣayr for his piping,

You praised Nuṣair for his band

And whoever praises his piping speaks the truth.

And among his band the praiser is truthful

فنازع في زَمرِه معشرٌ

فنازع في زَمرِه معشرٌ

وقالوا يشابهه صالحُ

وقالوا يشابهه صالحُ

Then a group took issue over his piping,

Yet a group contested his band

And said, 'Ṣāliḥ resembles him.'

And said Ṣāliḥ resembles him

فقلت لهم زَمرُه غاية

فقلت لهم زَمرُه غاية

وصالِحٌ في زَمرِهِ صالحُ

وصالِحٌ في زَمرِهِ صالحُ

So I told them, 'His piping is the pinnacle,

So I said to them his band is the utmost

And Ṣāliḥ is competent at his piping.'

And Ṣāliḥ among his band is Ṣāliḥ
