أهلاً ببيتِ خميلةٍ

شكرَتْ صنيعَ ابنِ السّحابِ

Welcome to the bower of a grove

that thanked the bounty of the clouds' son.

أبدَتْ بَهاراً كالعيو

أبدَتْ بَهاراً كالعيو

نِ على شَقيقٍ كالشباب

نِ على شَقيقٍ كالشباب

She displayed oxeye flowers like ey-

es, above anemones like youth.

وتأودتْ أعطافُها

وتأودتْ أعطافُها

فزرَتْ بأعطافِ الكَعابِ

فزرَتْ بأعطافِ الكَعابِ

And her limbs swayed,

putting the nubile maiden's curves to shame.

حتى إذا لعِبَ النّسيمُ

حتى إذا لعِبَ النّسيمُ

ببَردِها النّضْرِ الإهابِ

ببَردِها النّضْرِ الإهابِ

Until, when the breeze played

with her fresh-skinned mantle,

نثرَتْ عقودَ حُليِّها

نثرَتْ عقودَ حُليِّها

نثْرَ العقودِ عن الرقابِ

نثْرَ العقودِ عن الرقابِ

she scattered her jeweled necklaces,

as necklaces are scattered from necks.

وسرى لنا عن مِسكِها

وسرى لنا عن مِسكِها

مِسكٌ أتى من كلّ بابِ

مِسكٌ أتى من كلّ بابِ

And from her musk there drifted to us

musk that came from every door.
