you cross me, O Umar the painter.

By God, if I unsheathe the sword of satire

والله إن جرّدْتُ سيفَ الهِجا

والله إن جرّدْتُ سيفَ الهِجا

فأُغمِدَتْ شفْرتُهُ إلا

فأُغمِدَتْ شفْرتُهُ إلا

And by God, if I draw the sword of satire,

Its blade will be sheathed only after

then its blade is sheathed—except...
