    O beauty of the caliphate, who wins glory

    with the two hands of his graciousness and beauty,

    And whom God's caliph on earth

    has raised above his peers:

    ملأتْ بين نحرِه وقَذالِهْ

    A nobility that strung the stars into necklaces

    filling the space between his breast and the back of his head;

    With lofty virtues—oh, the full moon's shame, if it

    ignorantly compares their perfection with its own!

    And qualities bearing glad tidings of success—

    those seeking his favor need not fear his failing them.

    بِ ويُغنيكَ عن سريعِ مِطالِهْ

    A rain of bounty, quenching you with its sweet water

    and sparing you even the briefest delay;

    هُ لإرشادِها رهينَ ضَلالِهْ

    And guidance—I think the stars have borrowed

    it to guide one held captive by his own wandering;

    And a sword—the hand of the caliphate has brandished

    it, adding luster to its polish.
