سمراءُ مثلُ الرُدَيْني

سمراءُ مثلُ الرُدَيْني

My heart and my gaze were captivated

My heart and my gaze were captivated,

by a brown-skinned beauty like a Rudayni spear.

By a brunette with cheeks like pomegranates.

وثُبْتُ هذا وهذا

وثُبْتُ هذا وهذا

للناسِ في نُقطَتَيْنِ

للناسِ في نُقطَتَيْنِ

And the proof of this and that

This one and that one,

lies before people in two dots:

Are the talk of people in two spots,

فتلكَ حبّةُ قلبي

فتلكَ حبّةُ قلبي

وتلك حبّةُ عَيْني

وتلك حبّةُ عَيْني

that, then, is the kernel of my heart,

One being the pupil of my heart,

and that is the pupil of my eye.

And the other, the pupil of my eye.
