May my father be ransom for him on whose cheeks a rose blooms,

Fresh, while his brow is the daytime sun.

He kept beauty from fearing “tails” [possibly intended: wilting],

While it has remained beneath the shade of his cheek-down.

I, from my weeping eyes, from the heat of my longing,

Am melting between water and fire.

Do you think my body can withstand those two,

When even hard iron flows molten because of them?
