جحَدْتُ الهوي عند العواذلِ ضِنّةً

جحَدْتُ الهوي عند العواذلِ ضِنّةً

عليهمْ بمن أصبو إليهِ وأهواهُ

عليهمْ بمن أصبو إليهِ وأهواهُ

I denied my love before the reproachers, jealously withholding

I denied my love to the censurers out of jealousy,

from them the one I yearn for and love.

Resenting them for whom I incline and adore.

ولو قلتُ إني عاشقٌ فطَنوا به

ولو قلتُ إني عاشقٌ فطَنوا به

لعلمهُم أن ليس يُعشَقُ إلاّ هو

لعلمهُم أن ليس يُعشَقُ إلاّ هو

And had I said I was in love, they would have recognized him,

Had I said I'm a lover, they'd realize it,

For they know that no one is loved but he.

For they know none but Him is worthy of love.
