I am intoxicated by your eyes,
I am intoxicated by your eyes,
and the wine of the gaze has many hues.
The apple of my eyes, colors so sweet.
ياO قضيباًa slender branch كلُّevery زاهرةٍblossom

O slender branch, every blossom
O branches all in flower whenever we faced,
that faces us from it is a garden.
Before us was an orchard like heaven.

Hers is a cheek like pomegranate blossom;
A paradise it seemed with fruits,
among the fruits of her bosom are pomegranates.
Pomegranates on the bosom, pleasures replete.

I ransom you with my father, a queen
By my father I'd sacrifice all to you,
whose servant in Paradise is Ridwan.
His slave in eternity, joy complete.

وهيwhile she دامَmay endure المُلْكُthe reign سُلطانُa sultan
She mustered an army from her beauty and appeared,
In your beauty you shone as you came into view,
a sultan—may her reign endure!
Yours the kingdom forever absolute.
وسُيوفُand the swords اللحظِthe glance مخبرةٌdeclaring
إنماonly الأجفانَthe eyelids أجفانُscabbards
And the swords of her glance declare
Swords those glances that make clear,
that the eyelids are nothing but scabbards.
Only the eyelids veil their keen acuity.

ذاthis سنانٌa spearpoint منكfrom you وسَنانُdrowsy
Challenge her stature, O spear:
Trouble me, O lance, her form held high,
this is a drowsy spearpoint of yours.
With your point and edge so fine.
واalas بلائيmy affliction منfrom مُخدّرةٍa secluded lady

Alas, my torment from a secluded lady!
Woe to me from her intoxicating being!
A rampart and walls stand before her,
Around her, wall and battlement.

and lions whose might was feared
Lions that fear her might,
by all that Khafan enclosed;
When she takes them they're defanged.

and a watchman who, if he gazed at her,
A sentry, if he saw her passing by,
would sway, even in his jealousy.
Would melt though now in rage.
خضتُI waded through بحرَthe sea الهولِterror أطلبُهاseeking her
درّةًa pearl والبحرُwhile the sea طوفانُa deluge
I waded through the sea of terror, seeking her,
I dared the sea of awe to find her -
a pearl, though the sea was a deluge.
Pearl while the sea a whirlpool churned.
فأعانَthen helped السعدُgood fortune واتّفقَتْand came together
وسعودُand good fortunes المرءِa man أعوانُallies
Then good fortune helped, and things came together;
Fortune helped and all aligned,
and a man's good fortunes are allies.
For a man, his friends are fortune's guide.

ماno لَهاfor her فيamong الدُرِّpearls أثمانُprices
So in my palm—what a pearl!
In my palm what pearl can there be
Among pearls, no price can be put on her.
That matches her in all world so wide?

Tell my reproachers—may they never come—
Say to those who blame me, no matter their role,
and my enviers—may they never exist:
And those envious that plot and connive -
كلُّevery يومٍday ليmine بهاwith her ولكَمْand for you

Each day is mine with her; as for you,
Each day with her is mine, no matter life's shape,
your business lies in death's vicissitudes.
In the cycles of fate, honor and drive.
