وضحَ الصباحِ وكنتُ في ظُلَمِ
Cherish a parchment whose dawn I saw
I fell in love with Tursa when I saw his morning
as morning’s radiance, while I was in darkness.
The morning became bright and I was in darkness

للسيفِ منصلتاً وللقلم
A man’s hand has embellished it—a hand fashioned
His hand was made dexterous by the One who created it
for the unsheathed sword and for the pen.
As a sword blade and as a pen

The clouds of his favors rained generously upon me,
The clouds of his kindness poured down on me
so I was carried from misery to blessings.
So I was transported from misery to bounty

شكر الرياض لهاطِلِ الدِيَمِ
So I shall surely give thanks for their bounty forever,
So I will thank the bestower forever
as gardens thank the downpour of steady rains.
As gardens thank the rain that waters them
