بَيْنِيbetween me وبينَand between الأَميرِthe emir مَعْرِفَةٌfamiliarity
بَيْنِي وبينَ الأَميرِ مَعْرِفَةٌ
أَشْبَهُmost similar شيءٍthing بحالهاto its state النَكِرَهْunfamiliarity
أَشْبَهُ شيءٍ بحالها النَكِرَهْ
Between the emir and me there is familiarity;
Between me and the prince there is an acquaintance
The closest thing to its state is unfamiliarity.
Which resembles in its state complete strangeness
عنديI have لهاfor it حاجَةٌa request وليسَand there is not لهاfor it
عندي لها حاجَةٌ وليسَ لها
يَومٌa day وليand I have حاجَةٌa request لهاit has عَشَرَهten
يَومٌ ولي حاجَةٌ لها عَشَرَه
I have a request for it, and it is not yet
I have need of him one day, and he has no need of me
A day old; and I have a request ten days old.
And I have need of him for ten days
فليتso if only شعريmy knowledge لأَيِّماfor what سَبَبٍreason
فليت شعري لأَيِّما سَبَبٍ
قَدَّمَهُhe put him first ثمthen جاءَhe came بيwith me أَثَرَهafter him
قَدَّمَهُ ثم جاءَ بي أَثَرَه
So if only I knew for what reason
I wonder for what reason
He put him first, then brought me after him.
He put me forward, then made me follow after
ماnot ذاكthat إِلاَّexcept لأَجْلِfor the sake of واحِدةٍone thing
ما ذاك إِلاَّ لأَجْلِ واحِدةٍ
أَدَقَّhe sharpened فيهاin it لعلْمِهِowing to his knowledge نَظَرَهhis scrutiny
أَدَقَّ فيها لعلْمِهِ نَظَرَه
That was only for one consideration:
That is only because of one thing
In his wisdom, he scrutinized it closely.
In which his insight examined most keenly
فمنfor whoever أَرادَwished الوضوءَablution عنafter حَدَثٍritual impurity
فمن أَرادَ الوضوءَ عن حَدَثٍ
قَدَّمَhe put first منfrom قبلِbefore وَجْهِهِhis face دُبُرَهُhis backside
قَدَّمَ من قبلِ وَجْهِهِ دُبُرَهُ
For whoever seeks ablution after ritual impurity
So whoever wants ablution from impurity
Puts his backside first, before his face.
