بالخطّ معتَكِفاً عليْهِ
And I fell in love with him as he was engrossed
I hung it, hanging
in calligraphy, wholly devoted to it.
On the line, secluded with it

He carried the inkwell, yet no cure
It carried the inkpot but no cure
for a lover can be hoped for from him.
For a lover whose love could be hoped for

Appears as a dye on its hands

When I see him, I have no

occupation but gazing at him.
Beyond my gaze upon it?

And love makes me mute

Did I complain to it of my sorrow?
