Abd al-Aziz has taken the lead in medicine,

So the Messiah almost seems his follower.

His judgments are schemed against for their healing efficacy,

And he sees far-distant hope as close at hand.

And if a path through another grows narrow,

You find a broad way open to him.

So entrust the severing of sickness at its root

To the keen Indian-steel sword of his health.

    فكم ذابلٍ ردّهُ يانِعا

    And his glance brings fresh vigor to the patient;

How many a withered one he has restored to flourishing!

Were it possible, in the customary order, to ward off death,

His medicine would ward it off.
