Life is only for one who, throughout his night, remains

Standing in the depths of darkness, never flagging in this.

Whose like is not seen now in this age.

The age's great scholar highest among men, as he looked,

A keen, hard-tempered sword in the heads of all his foes.

Thus, in this respect, he truly differs from rain.

While the sea is bound to appear turbid to us.

O Hafiz, sage, imam, and you who,

When you appear to mankind, excellence has appeared,

You are the one who surpassed all the people of the earth

Among us; live on, for high honor now takes pride in you.

And remain safe whenever the forenoon sun rises, and whenever

A moon appears to a beholder in the depths of darkness.
