أحقُّ بقاعِ الأرضِ بالرَفْضِ بلدةٌ

أحقُّ بقاعِ الأرضِ بالرَفْضِ بلدةٌ

خبَطْتَ بها الظَلْماءَ وسْطَ نهارِ

خبَطْتَ بها الظَلْماءَ وسْطَ نهارِ

Of all the earth's places, most deserving of being shunned is a town

The land's most deserving of rejection is a town

where you groped through darkness in broad daylight.

Whose darkness you encountered in broad daylight

يكلفُني فيها ابنُ ياقوتَ مدْحَهُ

يكلفُني فيها ابنُ ياقوتَ مدْحَهُ

ويأمُرُني أن أهجو ابنَ سِوارِ

ويأمُرُني أن أهجو ابنَ سِوارِ

There Ibn Yaqut tasks me with praising him,

In it, Ibn Ya't's son tasks me with praising him

and orders me to satirize Ibn Siwar.
