قدماً سموت بها إلى التفضيل
Your humility kept my mouth from kissing
Your humility prevented you from accepting my smile,
A foot by which you rose to preeminence.
When I rose with it to preference,

So I sent the stirrup as a gift, imagining
So for that reason I gave my sandals as an offering,
That I might have kissed that foot through a messenger.
That I may have accepted it through a messenger.
