ماذا لقيت بمن أعشت روائحها
عينيmy sight وضاقand grew strained بهاbecause of her صبريmy patience ومصطبريand my endurance
عيني وضاق بها صبري ومصطبري
What have I suffered from one whose fragrances have dimmed
What did I find in the one whose scent I lived
my sight, and because of whom my patience and endurance have worn thin!
My eyes saw her, and my patience and composure narrowed
قستْshe was cruel وقالتand she said ترىyou see حسنيmy beauty فقلتُso I said لهاto her
قستْ وقالت ترى حسني فقلتُ لها
غطِّيhide هواكِyour love وماand what ألقىI endure علىdespite صبريmy patience
غطِّي هواكِ وما ألقى على صبري
She was cruel and said, “Do you see my beauty?” So I told her,
She was harsh and said, "Do you see my beauty?" I said to her
“Hide your love and what I endure despite my patience.”
"Cover your love - do not cast it upon my patience"
