enjoy a pleasant time whose good fortune has come upon me:
In good times openly supported me,
شتَّانhow different ماwhat بينيbetween me وبينand between صفاتكمyour qualities
شتَّان ما بيني وبين صفاتكم
يعقوبJacob عندكمwith you وعنديand with me حزنهhis sorrow
يعقوب عندكم وعندي حزنه
How vast the difference between me and your qualities!
How different I am from your qualities!
Jacob is with you, and his sorrow is with me.
Jacob is with you, while I have his sorrow.
