Tell me of a white one, lawful to one who treads her,

Without a marriage through which you make the guarded ground lawful.

Though she is possessed of worship and piety,

She filters all water for worldly and religious use.

And, without her second letter, her proud lineage is traced

To lords—what a fine source of pride and bounty!

And her letters are five; if they remove from her

Three, she becomes ten if one speaks a foreign tongue.

When her deeds are presented every night

To her lord, he prays upon her and offers the greeting of peace.
