معالي الأمور وما تكتسب

Rejoice in how your radiance clothes

Rejoice in what you wear of glory,

the loftiest affairs, and in what you gain,

The heights of matters and what you gain,

ومرتبة رقِيت قصدها

ومرتبة رقِيت قصدها

إلى أن قضى الله ما ترتقب

إلى أن قضى الله ما ترتقب

and in a rank you rose toward,

And a position you strove for

until God fulfilled what you awaited;

Until God fulfills what you await,

ومرتبة يا رفيع العماد

ومرتبة يا رفيع العماد

يليق بمنصبها المنتصب

يليق بمنصبها المنتصب

and in a rank, O lofty-pillared one,

And a position, O one of lofty pillars,

whose holder befits its office.

That befits its erected office,

وأنت المعان على أمرها

وأنت المعان على أمرها

لأنك من خير كفئ خطب

لأنك من خير كفئ خطب

And you are aided in its affairs,

And you are the shelter concerning it

for you are among the worthiest matches sought.

For you are of the best matched sought.

وعالت بك الشهب حتى رأت

وعالت بك الشهب حتى رأت

تصرف ميزانها المنتصب

تصرف ميزانها المنتصب

And through you the bright stars rose, until they saw

The meteors rose with you until they saw

the workings of their upright balance.

The swaying of its erected balance,

وحب القلوب فكيف الحبوب

وحب القلوب فكيف الحبوب

بسعدك راج فلا تعتجب

بسعدك راج فلا تعتجب

And hearts’ love—how much more the grain—

And the love of hearts so how could the loved ones

has flourished through your good fortune; do not marvel.

Not flourish with your joy so do not wonder,

وسرت فإن فرغت كيلها

وسرت فإن فرغت كيلها

لبثّ الثناءِ فمن يَنتخب

لبثّ الثناءِ فمن يَنتخب

And you went forth; if you finish measuring it,

And walk for if it finishes its measurement

who, then, will choose someone to spread praise?

Who could select from the overflowing praise,

ولا تحسبن رزقك المجتلي

ولا تحسبن رزقك المجتلي

تزيّد من أفقها المحتلب

تزيّد من أفقها المحتلب

And do not suppose your manifest provision

And do not think your collected provision

an increase from their milked horizon.

Increases from its polished horizon,

فإنك من أسرةٍ تصطفى

فإنك من أسرةٍ تصطفى

وترزق من حيث لا تحتسب

وترزق من حيث لا تحتسب

For you are from a family singled out,

For you are from a family chosen

and sustained from where it does not expect.

And provided for from where you cannot reckon.
