Proverbs of your beauty have spread among lovers,

yet your beauty, O beloved, has no equal.

The lover's recourse and his stratagem have failed

in seeking to meet you—so tell me how I may find a way.

Divided between you, O gazelle's neck, and

praise of the Dawadar are panegyrics and love poems.

An inscription is written at the gate of the ʿIzzī sanctuary.

Face his sanctuary and say: 'Glory and prosperity!'

God has taught through the pens in his palm,

and through swords—thus, livelihoods and appointed ends.

O master of the realm through counsels you understand—

no army can achieve what they achieve, nor can wealth.

May you rejoice in your triumph in this world, then the hereafter,

for your deeds have flourished for you in both abodes.
