شهواتdelights مصرEgypt لناfor us وطيبand the sweetness of حماهاher protected domain
شهوات مصر لنا وطيب حماها
O you who, through the bounty of his hands and gate, remind me
O you who remind me, through the bounty of his hands and his door,
of Egypt’s delights for us and the sweetness of her precinct—
Of Egypt’s delights for us and the sweetness of her domain.
إنif يحلُtastes sweet عنديto me مشتهىthe coveted delight of أبوابهhis doors
إن يحلُ عندي مشتهى أبوابه
فلقدthen indeed حلاgrew sweet منfrom سكّرsugar هرَماهاher two pyramids
فلقد حلا من سكّر هرَماها
if what is coveted at his gates tastes sweet to me,
If the coveted delight of his doors tastes sweet to me,
then surely it has grown sweet from the sugar of her two pyramids.
Then her two pyramids have indeed grown sweet with sugar.
