يا لائمي في خادمٍ لي سيدٍ
قسماًI swear لقدindeed زدتyou increased السلوّforgetfulness of love نفوراflight
قسماً لقد زدت السلوّ نفورا
O you who reproach me for a servant who is my master,
O you who blame me for serving a noble lord,
I swear, you have made forgetfulness flee all the more.
I swear your reproach has only made me more aloof.
ولقدand indeed أدرتyou passed around علىto المسامعِthe ears قهوةًwine
ولقد أدرت على المسامعِ قهوةً
فيin الحبّlove كانَwas مزاجهاits blend كافوراcamphor
في الحبّ كانَ مزاجها كافورا
And you have indeed passed wine around to listening ears;
And you have poured in my ears a bitterness,
In love, its blend was camphor.
Whose temper in love was camphor.
