يا من يطالع سقط الزند دونك من

ألفاظه ما يباهي الزهر في الأفق

ألفاظه ما يباهي الزهر في الأفق

O you who read Saqṭ al-Zand, take from

O you who read the falling of the flames, within you

its words what rivals the bright stars on the horizon.

Are words that outshine flowers on the horizon.

لا تحسب العقد في الأعناق يشبهه

لا تحسب العقد في الأعناق يشبهه

فإنَّ للزندِ حلياً ليس للعُنق

فإنَّ للزندِ حلياً ليس للعُنق

Do not think the necklace worn around necks resembles it;

Do not think necklaces on the neck resemble them -

For the wrist has adornments that the neck does not.

For the flames have adornments not possessed by the neck.
