يا مشتكي الهمّ دعه وانْتظر فرجاً

يا مشتكي الهمّ دعه وانْتظر فرجاً

ودار وقتك من حينٍ إلى حين

O you who complain of sorrow, leave it be, and await relief.

O you who complain of worry, let it go and await relief.

Adapt to your circumstances from time to time.

And adapt to your times, from one moment to the next.

ولا تعاندْ إذا أصبحت في كدرٍ

ولا تعاندْ إذا أصبحت في كدرٍ

فإنما أنت من ماءٍ ومن طين

فإنما أنت من ماءٍ ومن طين

And do not be stubborn when you find yourself in adversity,

And do not be obstinate when you find yourself in distress;

For you are made of nothing but water and clay.

For you are only made of water and clay.
