هcompletion of الله (God) بعيدٍon a feast day مباركblessed ميمونauspicious
ه بعيدٍ مبارك ميمون
O refuge of humankind, may God grant you joy
O refuge of mankind over there, prosper
on a blessed, auspicious feast day.
God is distant, blessed, auspicious
لاdo not تسلنيask me عنabout حالcondition عائلتيmy family فيduring
لا تسلني عن حال عائلتي في
هit (completing فيه) فإنيfor I منbecause of أمرهمtheir plight فيin جنونmadness
ه فإني من أمرهم في جنون
Do not ask me about my family's condition during
Do not ask me of my family’s condition
it, for their plight drives me mad.
For I am driven mad by their affairs
ليسthere is not غيريother than me فيin البيتِthe house قطعةa piece لحمٍof meat
ليس غيري في البيتِ قطعة لحمٍ

فتفضَّل من قبل أن يأكلوني
There is no piece of meat in the house except me,
None in the house has flesh but me
so be generous before they eat me.
