مولايَmy lord دعوةa plea منof one whom رمتهaccused him عداتهhis enemies
مولايَ دعوة من رمته عداته
بملاءةٍof being solvent وهوwhile he is الشقيthe wretched one بدينهwith his debt
بملاءةٍ وهو الشقي بدينه
My lord, a plea from one whose enemies have accused him
My Master, a call from one who missed his aim
Of being solvent, though he is wretched with debt.
In uprightness, while wretched in his faith,
إنif كانَwas يملكpossesses منof نضارٍgold حبَّةa grain
إن كانَ يملك من نضارٍ حبَّة
فاللهthen may God يسبكmelt down عينهاits very substance فيin عينهhis eye
فالله يسبك عينها في عينه
If he owns a single grain of gold,
If he but own a grain of constancy,
Then may God melt its very substance in his eye.
May God blend even that grain within his soul.
