هنّئت يا أعلى الورى رتبة
مدائحاًpraises حكمتهاtheir wisdom بالغهprofound
مدائحاً حكمتها بالغه
May you be congratulated, O highest of humankind in rank,
I congratulate you, O highest of creation in rank,
on praises whose wisdom is profound.
With praises composed in eloquence,
شقيقهاtheir twin فيin الحبِّlove ياO سيديmy lord
شقيقها في الحبِّ يا سيدي
ماwhat كانَwas فيconcerning النعمانal-Nuʿmān للنابغهfor al-Nābigha
ما كانَ في النعمان للنابغه
Their twin in love, my lord,
Its sister in love, O my master,
is what al-Nābigha had for al-Nuʿmān.
Was not for Al-Nabigha among the favors,
كمhow many نعمةa blessing أسبغتهاyou lavished it للورىupon humankind
كم نعمة أسبغتها للورى
فهيand it is علىover عرضhonor الورىhumankind سابغهamply covering
فهي على عرض الورى سابغه
How many a blessing you have lavished on humankind,
How many favors you have bestowed upon creation,
and it amply cloaks humankind's honor.
Spread over the breadth of creation.
