عش مهنًّا بألف عامٍ وعيد
بينbetween جزمfirm resolve منof الأمورaffairs ورَفعand exaltation
بين جزم من الأمور ورَفع
Live happily for a thousand years and feast days,
Live a thousand years in constant work and holiday
amid resolve in affairs and exaltation.
Between firmly resolved and letting go
ياO إماماًimam إنif هانis slight قدرِيmy worth فليthen I have منfrom
يا إماماً إن هان قدرِي فلي من
خمسfive بمناكthrough your wishes عائداتreturns بنفعwith benefit
خمس بمناك عائدات بنفع
O imam, if my worth is slight, then I have, from
O leader though my worth be little, grant me but
five, through your wishes, beneficial returns.
Five from your plenty, of benefit returned
حبَّذاhow lovely عشرناour ten وياand O حبَّذاhow lovely الخمstart of 'the five'
حبَّذا عشرنا ويا حبَّذا الخم
سcompletion of 'five' ولوand even if أنهاthat it بنفعwith benefit وصفعand slapping
س ولو أنها بنفع وصفع
How lovely our ten, and O how lovely the fi-
Fine was our living! Fine too the five
