Joy called to a heart that had lain hidden in fear:

Indeed, recovery is pleasing to all humankind.

May the minister be spared affliction, and may

his enemies’ hearts never cease to complain of anguish.

May the ministerial age be spared, whose remembrance united

    name and deed, unbroken.

O master who sharpened resolve’s edge, making obligatory

the law of praise—excellent as a custom and an obligation!

And as for the panegyrics, O you whose essence grew clear

in noble deeds, they complain of no incidental ailment.

May your arrow against the enemies’ throats never be repelled, nor

may they attain through the arrow the target they sought.

The world recovered with your recovery; no sickness remains in it

save that in the eyelids of graceful women.
