دقيق في مقابلة العطايا
It is against my will that I offer you a thought
Though I wish to guide you to the meaning
so fine, in return for gifts.
Of gifts exchanged in intimacy
فياso, O خجليmy shame وياand O عُتبيmy reproach لدهرٍagainst an age
فيا خجلي ويا عُتبي لدهرٍ
إذاwhen وصلreaches الدَّقيقthe flour إلىto الهداياthe gifts
إذا وصل الدَّقيق إلى الهدايا
So, O my shame, and O my reproach against an age
Oh my shame, oh my blame for an age
when flour finds its way into gifts!
