أفدِي صحاباً مذ عرفتُ ولاءهم

أفدِي صحاباً مذ عرفتُ ولاءهم

عرف الرَّجاء مطالع التيسير

عرف الرَّجاء مطالع التيسير

I would give my life for companions: since I came to know their loyalty,

I would sacrifice myself for companions whose loyalty I know

hope has known the dawns of ease.

The dawn of hope rises with facilitation

أروي المروءة عنهم عن نافعٍ

أروي المروءة عنهم عن نافعٍ

والبرّ أرويه عن ابن كثير

والبرّ أرويه عن ابن كثير

I relate noble conduct from them, on the authority of Nafiʿ,

I describe their nobility from Nafe’

and righteousness I relate on the authority of Ibn Kathir.
